You Can Now Use Your EBT Card on DoorDash to Order Groceries From Kroger

Good news for the millions of families receiving SNAP benefits across the United States. As of May 4, 2026, delivery platform DoorDash now accepts EBT card payments for purchases from Kroger-family stores — the largest supermarket chain in the country. The partnership allows SNAP recipients to shop for groceries from home and have them delivered to their door without needing to travel to a store in person.

The expansion covers nearly 2,700 eligible Kroger-family stores nationwide, including the Kroger, Fred Meyer, Harris Teeter, Ralphs, and Mariano’s banners. According to the company, more than 4.5 million users had already added their SNAP card to the DoorDash platform before this announcement — a clear sign of just how much demand exists among recipients to use their food benefits for online shopping.

How it works and what you can buy

The process is straightforward. SNAP recipients who want to use their EBT card on DoorDash simply need to add their EBT card as a payment method inside the app and select a participating Kroger-family store when placing an order. At checkout, the EBT card will automatically cover SNAP-eligible food items — primarily unprocessed foods, dairy, meats, fruits, vegetables, and grains.

It is important to note that the EBT card can only be used to pay for eligible food items — it cannot cover delivery fees or driver tips. These additional costs will need to be paid with a separate payment method, such as a debit or credit card. For recipients who do not have another payment option, DoorDash offers reduced-rate membership plans for people enrolled in public assistance programs.

Why this matters for SNAP recipients

The ability to use an EBT card for online grocery orders and home delivery is not just a convenience — for many families it is a genuine necessity. Older adults with limited mobility, workers with demanding schedules, people living in food deserts with few nearby supermarkets, and those without a car to get to the store all face real monthly barriers to grocery shopping. Integrating EBT into delivery platforms like DoorDash directly lowers those barriers.

«Access to affordable food is fundamental. This collaboration with Kroger marks an important step forward for SNAP access nationwide. Together, we’re helping millions of consumers shop more conveniently for the groceries their households rely on every day.»

DoorDash now has over 57,000 stores accepting EBT

With this addition, DoorDash now has more than 57,000 stores on its platform that accept SNAP and EBT payments. The company has been steadily expanding its network of EBT-accepting merchants for years, in step with the federal expansion of the online SNAP purchasing program that launched at scale during the pandemic and has continued growing ever since.

The USDA authorized the use of EBT cards for online purchases in 2020 as an emergency measure, and has since expanded the number of authorized retailers. Today, platforms including Amazon Fresh, Walmart, Target, Instacart, and now DoorDash with Kroger allow SNAP recipients to purchase eligible food from home — representing a fundamental shift in the way millions of families access their food benefits.

If you receive SNAP and want to take advantage of this new option, simply open the DoorDash app, go to the payment methods section, and add your EBT card. The system will automatically recognize eligible items during the checkout process.
