Amazon has launched a new subscription that offers alternatives to EBT card recipients, which are the cards used to transfer Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
Amazon is offering its Prime plan members an annual plan for $9.99, which includes unlimited free delivery of groceries over $35 from stores such as Whole Foods, Amazon Fresh and others that accept EBT card payment. In addition, Prime Access members can activate this service for $5.99 per month. For those who do not have this service, the cost is $9.99 per month.

There are two delivery options for customers: the first allows them to receive their order at home free of charge, one hour after placing it. The second option is to pick up the order at the store once thirty minutes have passed since it was confirmed.
“Customers perceive immediate value in this subscription, as it helps them save on grocery delivery fees and enhances their shopping experience,” a press release states.
Prime members can take advantage of a two-month free offer when subscribing to the annual plan. The monthly subscription option gives Prime members greater flexibility and lower upfront costs. This subscription is only available to those receiving “qualified government assistance,” such as SNAP, Medicaid and Temporary Assistance for Families recipients.
