USDA and the Food and Nutrition Service have adjusted SNAP payments in several states, with higher maximum amounts in territories such as Guam and Alaska
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients have up to four days remaining in October to receive their payments, with amounts reaching up to $2,588 in territories such as Guam, Alaska, Hawaii and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
In the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia, the maximum payment is $1,756 after the 2025 Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA). However, in territories such as Guam, large families can receive significantly higher payments, with $2,588 being the maximum amount available for a fully eligible household of eight.
Key Dates for Guam
SNAP payments in Guam, where the amounts are higher, are distributed based on recipients’ Social Security numbers (SSN). Upcoming payment dates are:
- SSN ends in 7: October 7
- SSN ends in 8: October 8
- SSN ends in 9: October 9
- SSN ends in 0: October 10
However, only a limited group of households qualify for the maximum payment of $2,588. Those with additional income or benefits may see a reduction in the amount. For example, a single individual in Guam would receive $431, compared to $292 in the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia.

COLA-adjusted amounts in 2025
The 2025 Cost-of-Living adjustment has impacted SNAP benefits, raising maximum payments in most states and territories. However, Hawaii, which used to have one of the highest payments, experienced a reduction following the adjustment. Despite these changes, Alaska remains the state with the highest payments in the US.
