SNAP: New Maximum Benefit Amounts Starting October 2025

Beginning on October 1, 2025, beneficiaries of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps or the EBT card, will see an adjustment in the maximum monthly benefit amounts. This change coincides with the start of the new fiscal year in the United States.

New SNAP Maximum Benefit Amounts

The maximum benefit a family of four can receive will depend on their region of residence:

  • Continental U.S. and District of Columbia: $994
  • Alaska: between $1,285 and $1,995, depending on the area
  • Hawaii: $1,723
  • Guam: $1,689
  • U.S. Virgin Islands: $1,278

Minimum Benefit

The minimum benefit for small households will be set at $24 in most states, with slightly higher amounts in Alaska and Hawaii.

How Will These Changes Affect Families?

The adjustment is intended to offset the rising cost of living and food prices, helping low-income households maintain access to essential groceries. These new amounts will be applied automatically to beneficiaries’ EBT cards starting in October.

Reminder

The final amount each household receives may vary based on household size, income, and specific circumstances. Beneficiaries are encouraged to check their eligibility and confirm their benefit amounts with their local SNAP office.
