Instacart Expands SNAP EBT Payments to 10 More States
U.S. citizens benefiting from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will get good news, as their options for buying groceries online using Instacart have expanded.
The platform announced Monday that its app would expand its SNAP electronic benefit transfer card payments to 10 additional states.
Which states are included in the expansion?
The states that will now accept Instacart EBT payments are Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
This leaves Alaska as the only U.S. state not accepting Instacart EBT payments according to Tech Crunch.
According to Supermarket News, Instacart’s expansion means SNAP EBT payments are now accepted at more than 60 retailers and more than 8,000 stores and will now reach 30 million SNAP recipients.

Instacart launched its SNAP EBT SNAP payments in November 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
SNAP participants can now shop for pickup or delivery on the Instacart app or on grocery stores’ Instacart platform-powered sites and apps.
Formerly known as food stamps, SNAP is a federal program that provides financial assistance to low-income Americans who need to purchase food. Benefits are processed through an EBT debit card system.
