U.S. to deliver up to $3487 in SNAP benefits

Beginning June 1, several states will distribute Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits in a single day, with significant variations by region

As May draws to a close, several U.S. states are preparing to distribute Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for the month of June.

In some states, such as Vermont, Rhode Island, North Dakota, Alaska and the UB.S. Virgin Islands, all SNAP benefits will be mailed on a single day. The scheduled date for this mailing is June 1.

Payment Details

In Alaska, eligible households in the most remote rural areas, known as Rural 2, can receive up to $3487.00 USD. In contrast, recipients in urban Alaska will receive a maximum of $2246.00 USD. This difference reflects the high contrast in living costs between rural and urban areas.

On the other hand, in Vermont, Rhode Island and North Dakota, the maximum amount for a family of eight is $1751.00 USD. This amount will also apply in the 48 contiguous U.S. states and will remain in effect until September 30.

For one-person households, the maximum amount is $291.00 USD, although the average benefit is usually approximately $202.00 USD. The exact amount each beneficiary receives may vary depending on his or her income and resources.

In the U.S. Virgin Islands, inflation has driven maximum benefits to figures between $375.00 USD and $2252.00 USD. This is in response to the need to compensate for higher prices compared to other territories in the country.

SNAP benefit adjustments are designed to help families meet their nutritional needs in complex economic scenarios.
